When you're in situations there may be things that happen to draw your attention away from who you are protecting. You must not let your guard down and have your attention removed from your client.

That is a great tip Drew. I think this is one of the most important factors to consider when body guarding someone. The safety of your client what you're getting paid for, if you fail you might have to choose another career.

Some professional bodyguard training with put you through senarios where this type of thing may happen to better prepare you for anything. If you want to be a good bodyguard, professional training is highly recommended.

Its very hard to stay alert to your clients potential danger, training of course helps, but even so there are always going to be laspses, that why bodyguards work in small teams to cover all the bases

I think that the main part of the training of the bodyguard is that he must be on the alert and must not look aside from the security of the client. His carelessness can cost the life of the client.

Well that has to be there, a guard's mind and his full attention should always be directed towards his client. As we all know accidents occur in a blinks time, isn't it.

I absolutely agree with you. You should always stay extremely focused and alert when you are on the job. You should do this not only for protecting your client but also for protecting yourself properly.

A bodyguard should be well-versed in handling difficult situations that may arise. If a bodyguard is properly trained, he would be able to fend off armed attackers and he remain calm under pressure.

One of the main problems is however that many times the attackers are not unarmed. When you face someone who is pointing a gun at you or your client then other skills are indeed needed.

I quite agree. A bodyguard should retain his focus on his job, despite distractions. He needs to be very observant and can easily recognise dangerous situations.
