I live in Australia; I'm not too sure about things that happen in England, regardless of how large or important it is. I'm just not up-to-date with them. Although you're talking about the police knowing right? Maybe a tip-off?

It was reported that MI5 had prior knowledge that this was going to take place through intellegience sources or wire tapping or however they came across this information. I'm sure there was some intel they came across.
