My karate instructor Bob Davenport is a third dan black belt and he is unfortunatly moving out of my area, and so I need a replacment - what do you think is the minimum belt and instructor should be?

I have no clue but would like to know as my son is very interested and I wanted to know what to look for in an instructor anyway, this might help out some.

I think you should get at least a second dan black belt instructor, if not a third dan one. This is because you are already used to be taught by someone with that high rank but that depends on what belt you are. If you are somewhere close to the black belt then I suggest that you should think of getting a karate instructor with no lower rank than the previews one.
Good luck!
