using a weapon is no joke even for some one who dose martial arts , one has to know who to use it in the first place , I would not suggest any one use one with out training

Well normally, to purchase a gun, one would have to have a license. To obtain a license, one would have to undergo training. There are people who gain guns through illegal activities, but the majority, as stated above, have licenses.

I believe hazephase was referring to Martial Arts use of weapons as opposed to guns.
Martial arts training with weapons can be very beneficial when a bodyguard doesn't want or need to use lethal force. With martial arts training you can improvise when needed to effectivly defend yourself or the one you're protecting.

I found a site that has a nice variety of martial arts weapons and other gear for those interested in training with these sorts of weapons.

The nunchucks or nunchaku have been known as one of the more popular martial arts weapons and when used it takes on a form of art.

Finding a good trainer is also important so you know how to use them properly.

Sorry, seems I misinterpreted the thread.
If you mean fighting using weapons; then alot of people seem to use knives. I've actually heard of people using katana's in Japan though. Walking into nightclubs and stab***g/cutting/slashing people to death.
I do agree with Drew though; nunchaku are definitely a valuable weapon source. Easy to use (with the right trainina), compact and deadly. =]

A lot of attackers will have knives and there is self defence training in dealing with attackers with knives. It can happen fast and you need good reaction skills to be able to subdue the attacker as quick as possible and prevent any injuries or of course death. Being able to handle stressful situations like this is extremely important.

Also the mind have to be trained , not only the body , cause the mind tells the body what to do , I good fighter , knows how to use his mind every well

Of course you have to have the smarts to go with the combat training. It's the total package of thinking quick and being able to defend yourself and the person or persons you're protecting. The mind also needs to handle stressful situations. It takes a strong mind along with the strength and ability to fight or defend in any conflict.

No one can fight bare handed a guy with a weapon, that is a completely different scenario. Oh yeah, if you come across a rowdy person who tries to trouble you or people around you and you are equipped with some kind of training in martial art you can be the hero, instead of being a silent watcher.

I think that every form of martial arts has this kind of training to protect themselves against attackers with a knife. However I never heard of training against a gun.

I'm not sure I can agree with your comments about being a hero. Just because one is skilled in martial arts doesn't mean one should always use it when needed. What if you can just talk to the person to de-escalate the situation? Wouldn't that be a better route. Of course, if all other options fail, then you have to do what you have to do.

Martial Arts can be of help when you are fighting in close quarters however when the other party has a gun then you can only do so much with your martial art skills.

When the attacker has a gun then the best option for you will be to run if you can run fast enough. In some other case the best option is to call other people’s attention because the one with the gun would be afraid of using it in front of so many people.
