With Bush ordering a martial law plan that will basically give him control of all government in the case of a "catastrophic event" until a time when it is thought they are passed said event, is this something that should be done?

Will that serve the security purposes or does it just give Bush dictator powers?

I don't think this is a very smart move. A government should not depend on just one person. I don't think this is going to work for the best, I'm actually kind of scared of if this happens.

We are beyond that with comment with Bush now. You have a new president taking the office that could if he chooses exercise that as well. I think that when you forget that new people are coming into office you have to look to see where the next person will take you.

You know what the funny thing about this whole martial law thing is? When people in developing countries do it then we call them dictators but when Bush does it people don't say anything.

Thankfully, Bush is no longer the president of the United States. Thinking about emergency powers though, I think it could work both ways. Power is heady and could corrupt even the most honest politician, if there even is one.

It would have given him dictatorial powers. Fortunately, he's no longer the President, thank God, and so that's not a threat anymore.
